Interns
The Bangladesh Education and Resource Network (bEARN) invites applicants for internship opportunities. Interns with bEARN are able to gain some valuable hands-on experience in the development sector through participation in its various activities. The bEARN Internship Program has been established since 2005.
Internship Eligibility
To participate in the bEARN Internship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be at minimum a graduate or post graduate, having just completed exams at a reputed University in Bangladesh or abroad
- Have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
- Be a graduate in one of the following disciplines: Education, English, Economics, Sociology, International Relations, Development Studies, Computer Science and allied subjects.
- Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about youth issues in Bangladesh and a commitment to working for and with young people, and youth-led and youth focused organisations
- Competent spoken and written Bangla and English
- Basic computer skills including MS-Office (MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint and MS-Access), Database, Internet, E-mail browsing and so on
Number of Positions Available
There are initially two internship positions available per year. However, the number may increase depending on certain factors.
Duration
The duration of the internship is 3 – 6 months.
Procedure for Application
- Application letter - please mention the time and duration (not less than three months) of your internship
- A resume
- Two copies of a passport sized photo
- An essay of 500 words elaborating reasons for your interest in the program
Application deadline
January 15 and July 15 of each year.
Notification period
The applicant will be notified by the end of January and July. The selected candidate should confirm participation in the internship by February 15 and August 15 with necessary documents.
Waiting list
A waiting list will be maintained by the Internship Management Team at bEARN. The availability of positions from the waiting list will be notified to the candidate directly and a closure notice will be published in www.b-earn.org by the end of February and August.
Nature of Activities by an Intern
The Intern will be assigned to on-going projects at bEARN during the time of the internship.
Internship Requirement
The program requires the following items for successful completion of the internship:
- Signing of an agreement form with bEARN
- Maintaining office time and other rules and regulations as per the bEARN Internship Program
- Submission of a report after completion of the internship
Certification
At the close of your internship, you will be given a certificate with your accomplishments.
Honorarium
A monthly honorarium of Tk. 3500/- will be given, which will essentially cover the transportation costs to the bEARN office and some pocket expenditure. Any field visit outside of Dhaka will be covered by bEARN.
